Purplefade, that makes sense to me too. However, the valvtronic as you say was actually plugged in for this experiment. And when it was unplugged the smoke at idle wasn’t just “reduced” but disappeared completely. I’m sure I’ll eventually wind up replacing the VSS, but until then this is an enjoyable experiment!

Mine was worse on both sides! Now just on the one sans OCC.

Good job. It'll at least reduce the amount of oil fouling the cats until you can get the VSS done.

Exactly, the more I think about the more this “fix” seems like a placeholder/get by.

Totally agree, I also enjoy tinkering to see what I can come up with in the way of creative solutions for sure!! Dude, fingers crossed this buys you a bunch of time before you have to mess with the vss - that said, it’s a tedious and time consuming job, but it isn’t “hard”.... Worst case, if you can fabricate what you already have and have it look good and perform, you should be able to tackle vss when the time comes as well

I don’t think it’s 99%. Valve stem seal failure seems closer to 30% of the time, and seems to be related to specific seals used in early Production N62’s.

Always check for oil in the manifold first. It’s easy and cheap to fix.

It was a simple procedure, well see if that helps with my smoking issue although, as it’s been noted, it’s probably side to valve stem seals. BTW, I used the original connectors taken from the CCV hose.
Clever and elegant solution. Thanks for the write up!

This is my experience with the smoking problem:
