Right Side Hood Latch - Access without invasive

I suspect my right side hood latch lock-cable bowden is done. I got tension on the hood release from the interior (minor) but the latch on the hood itself is not releasing.

Ordered up all 3 cables and 2 new locks just as part of due course....
Just removed the DS grill to start the eyeball as I await parts. Is there any way to get to that bowden cable just short of cutting the right side airduct

I had an issue similar and the nood pins have a flat head screwdriver head i was able to take a long screwdriver and you can pretty reach to the bottom of the hood pin and unscrew it but here is a decent video

I see what you mean with the long screw.....I'll grab another look tomorrow but I can't recall seeing clearance from the side of the duct area and the area in question to -push- from the bottom

I removed the only visible trim panel retainer in the front of the duct and the bumper support screw. Finagled with the duct but zero clearance on getting a screw to fit in any direction. Don't see any way just short of cutting the duct. Here's hoping someone's got a Friday tip

I've done this break in before. We did have to cut though the duct around the radiator.

The duct itself is in-expensive....but my time is. Eyeballing from the kidney hole, looks like the front assembly will need to come all out if I decide to properly replace it. Given it's age, I can see a plastic or 2 breaking as well part of due course.

Look at videos. I had to do this break in on my dad's PT cruiser and just needed a very long flat screwdriver and know exactly where to push.

With Bowden cable you can tank the outer sleeve and as long as the problem is the inner sleeve is rusted vs broken the latch will operate so I would look from below and see if you can reach up with a long hook (think coat hanger wire) and yank the cable down.

I forget which piece we had to replace but it is in three pieces so usually to the part going through the firewall or the part from the splice to the left latch fails and the splice makes it very easy to replace.

Regardless, as long as I can get to the DS latch.....to pop, then I'll be golden with at least the hood up....The secondary cable to the RS is easy access

FedEx is arriving sometime today----even ordered a set of new locks (thinking Preventative M. will entail at least the 2 primary cables and new locks . It's plastic afterall..

This picture shows the position of the cable where it goes over the left headlight. You should be able to get a hooked wire through the rubber seal over the headlight to pull on the cable.

Appreciate the pic ! Just walked into the garage for a quick check. No bueno. Hood is pretty snug -kinda wanna say maybe 1/8" pass the headlight lense.
