Ticking noise caused by worn valve tips?.

Recall on the phone I mentioned I could not see at least two per bank only by feel. Are all your spark plugs tight? Has a buddy 100% sure he had rod knock turned out to northeast a loose spark plug. Also I am pretty sure we had the HVAC air box off that will be important to get to the back bolts even with the Dr. Seuss ratchet

Update :

Replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets (bank 2) and the ticking is still there. Not sure how to proceed from here. I may do another leak test to see if the manifold itself actually has a leak or something..

A lot of appreciation to Andrewwynn who has been amazingly helpful during this process..

Cheers,

Ozzie

I haven’t been back on this thread in a bit but I had a buddy who had a cracked spark plug tube at the top, valve cover side, not head side, and it made the valve train seem extraordinarily loud vs what I would consider “normal”. Took smoke testing to find it because it was high enough on the tube that it didn’t leak oil out on to the plug.

It’s a stretch... but definitely something to check out.
