I believe someone else on the forum has used that one and had positive comments.

Now you wonít have to worry about the dual mass rig. I personally do not like it. Your clutch plate will need to have the springs though.

I wonder if anyone could comment on the weight of the single mass E46 flywheel versus the normal E53 dual mass flywheel.

I am guessing you saved several pounds off the rotating mass, but I've never had either one in my hand either.

Not sure but I will post the weight difference once I receive this one.

Yes it comes with the clutch and the pressure plate.

I know the stock E53 setup with clutch attached, is quite heavy.

I think a company called Fidanza, makes an affordable lightweight flywheel. Donít quote me though.

Most dual mass flywheels are pretty crazy heavy so I wouldn't be surprised.

I had a Fidanza in an old MR2 turbo a long time ago. Their website doesn't have any options at all, so it's odd that FCP has their product. Not too bad of a price.

That was me, and a few thousand miles later, I'm still happy. I got my Valeo kit from Amazon warehouse for $210 or thereabouts. Any kit for the 10-spline (zf 5 spd) trans will work in the E53. There are some differences in the amount of friction material on the clutch plates in the Valeo kits, but they'll all work.

Here's a link to the thread I did with weights, etc.:

https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...s-mt-cars.html

I also commented in some other threads about the setup. Just search for 'Valeo', and you'll see some threads about suspension refresh and clutch work - it'll be in there.

One thing I'd HIGHLY recommend doing while you have the trans out is the detents. They tend to stick over time (and make your shifter lean toward 5th instead of springing back to the center). The parts are only a few dollars and not that hard to install.

Good luck with your install!
