I just paid $175 to have my ABS module rebuilt. I haven't tested it yet..It's a spare. I am still not thrilled with the whole BBA Reman fiasco, and I don't know whether its been sold, new mgmt, or what exactly. But I was in their office and it all seemed fine and legit.

If Module masters was close in price, I'd probably send it there. If MM was 2x the price I would probably use BBA again, particularly since I can personally drop it off.

I have not heard of them. The pricing is 1/2 what modulemaster is charging. I think I'll give them a try. Thanks!

My module (for the '01) is with modulerepairpro right now. So far they seem professional and responsive. I'll post again after I get it back.

On Friday I got the email that they had received my module. "2-3 days for repair." I'll follow up when I get the module back and installed.

I just got another 7" of snowfall yesterday. I would really like to make use of ABS and DSC before winter is over. haha

I just got an email from modulerepair (they received my module last Wednesday) saying they tested it and....

"....the main processor has failed, and unfortunately, this is a non-repairable failure. Your payment for the repairs being refunded."

Thoughts? They suggest contacting them for "the next available option ."

If they have a compatible one in stock (which should already be rebuilt as well) they will charge you the difference and all you'll need to do is calibrate the steering angle sensor...

I took a call from Yevgeniy "Gino" at repair module pro yesterday. He told me that my module had already been previously repaired. He did perform some standard preventative maintenance on it however he did not see any problems with the module. He saw my codes in the memory, cleared the memory, put the module on his test vehicle and the codes did not reappear. So he's shipping it back to me. He suggested that I chase wiring, look for a bad ground, or make an assumption that the steering angle sensor is bad even though I don't have an error code for the steering angle sensor. I felt like he genuinely wanted to help me sold my trifecta issue.

Very nice guy, I'd recommend his business to anyone else.

Go find one in a junkyard or from someone parting a car out....be careful, it has to be the same model as yours, and the ABS module used in E53 X5 changed at least once during the 6-year run.

I always prefer being the one who pulls a used ABS module off the car.

This is a good idea, but we don't have any decent parts yards around here. There are some modules on eBay, and maybe that was the way to go, but the last thing I ordered hasn't been shipped a week later and I want this out of my life.

"Gino" is selling me a remanufactured one for $275 plus shipping and tax (when I got the invoice the shipping seemed a tad high and he charged me LA County tax rate which is also high, but I'm not going to argue over a few dollars, total came to $317.13). He does seem to know what he's talking about.

He says that with the six cylinder there is a 75% chance that it won't need programming, only steering angle sensor calibration. If it does need programming he couldn't say whether I can do that with BMW Scanner 1.4.
