Mechanics are human beings too.

Sometimes people (shop owners, other mechanics) come and talk to the mechanics, causing distraction.

This is why I always have a clean work area:
- Clean the garage floor before doing any work.
- Any nuts/bolts removed: I place them on a piece of cardboard.
If necessary, I label them so during installation, it is a breeze.

Once done and everything buttoned up, I always mentally go through all the nuts/bolts to be sure they are all torqued correctly...When in doubt, check again.

Then test drive in the neighborhood and/or highway...

Yep, and take lots and lots of pics, or even videos. When I did the valve stem seals, pics were absolutely essential for me to reassemble flawlessly.
