The list goes on ffs
Evening all, yet another issue with the x5. I've got a communication error with the obd port and no eml at ignition I've checked every single fuse in the car all OK and car starts and drives fine it's a 2002 model and doesn't have the 20pin connector under the hood, all pins in the port itself are good and the 5 different scanners including 2 inpa k-line are all new and still not connecting, any help is appreciated

Check basic things on OBD connetor.
Pin 1 Voltage (ignition switched) Pin 4 Ground Pin 5 Ground Pin 7 Diagnostic line to powertrain modules (DME, EGS) Pin 8 Diagnostic connector to all other modules (via cluster and I-/K-bus) Pin 16 Voltage (continuous) When ignition switched to pos. 2 there should be voltage >2 V on diagnostic lines 7 and 8 so communication is possible.

And last but not least check for a cracked OBD2 block because once something is plugged into it a crack expands and you can loose connectivity..... (Personal experience on the White Witch) Sent from my SM-A730F using Tapatalk
