IMHO and knowing about some bugs exists with the current air suspension I personally wouldn't mess with the adjustable height settings with a non-OEM approved solution unless you go for it with 100% understanding and commitment that you're okay with voiding the whole air suspension warranty.

And for safety reasons I also wouldn't like to have a non-OEM electronically altered suspension unless it's been tested really good in as much condition applicable.

just my opinion...

As I said before, this is why I chose not to permanently modify the factory setup. In addition, this is why I wanted to test the setup since last July (6 months) without any problems.
The only issue I've seen is if I try to put the height into the "low access position" via the factory dash switch on very uneven ground, the system cannot lock into the low/access position since it does not enough adjustment left in the system since it is already low to start with. Other then that, it works fine. Additionally, I have also serviced the truck with the kit and will be servicing it again (33k inspection) and have had no problems as of yet. If someone is worried, you can just remove the kit prior to service (or remove it if any factory bugs pop-up) and no one will ever know. Additionally, it is illegal for a dealership to void a warranty for due to aftermarket parts. What the dealership CAN do, is if you have a problem with your car, they could blame the problem on your aftermarket part and not cover the problem under the factory warranty. Yet the dealership still has to show direct evidence that the aftermarket part could have caused the problem. For example: the dealership can’t blame an aftermarket exhaust system for causing a motor to break. However, they could blame the aftermarket exhaust system for causing various rattles, resonance or discoloration of on the rear bumper. Another example is if you were having electrical bugs (VERY common on BMWs). If you had a aftermarket stereo system, they could blame the electrical bugs on the aftermarket stereo system causing unnecessary load on the systems electronics or faulty wiring. I even believe that operating a cell phone inside the truck could also cause issues (VERY REMOTE), however check the “clear” sticker on your windshield or in the owners book. I believe it says something like this, “operating non-approved aftermarket inside the vehicle can cause unintended problems, please contact your dealer for approved devices, etc…” Again it is a stretch, yet the dealership has to show direct evidence that the part caused the problem. If you’re worried just remove the part prior to visiting the dealership.
Also if you plan on finding a dealer to lower it for you, that will also have the same warranty problems if you do have a problem with the system because you asked the dealer to modify the system outside the factory parameters. Others have had to sign wavers for this. Also if you did not sign a waver, they will notice the settings were changed and could still blame that for the systems problem. This again is the reason why I wanted a setup that could be removed without any signs of alteration.

In the 3 pictures (low, normal, high), I was adjusting the height via the factory dash switch. The kit I made will alter the height across all 3 settings.
For example: if you set the kit to run about 1" lower then stock, then all 3 factory settings (via the dash switch) will run 1" lower then stock.
For example: if you set the kit to run about 1" higher then stock, then all 3 factory settings (via the dash switch) will run 1" higher then stock.

If you do not have a factory dash adjustment switch, then the kit will just lower or raise the height for the systems only height setting.

As for the limits of the system, the "low" pictures above is the lowest the factory system can go due to the limits of the factory airbags. I have my truck setup so that this "low" height can only be used when I select the "low/access" mode on the factory dash switch. This "low" height is way to low for normal driving because it is running the system on the "bump-stops" and its really bumpy with poor handling.

Also if you set the kit to run the vehicle to this low position while in the factory "normal" position (middle position on the dash switch) then you will not be able to use the factory "low/access" position (lower position on the dash switch) because the system can not go any lower.

I am still working on the final details on the cost (trying to figure out what I owe this local shop for helping me and giving me access to their equipment to make the kit). In addition, a few parts had to be custom made, so I am working out the cost with them since the price is quantity based (typical for machine cut parts).

Also I plan on offering a introductory price for the kit if I can get 5-10 people in on buying it (doing this will lower the cost slightly) since I have some of the parts custom made and are priced off of how many I order.

Expect the price to be something like this:
(Price included shipping, tax, etc...)
Front: $150
Front Introductory price: $125
Rear: $150
Rear: Introductory price: $125
Introductory price will be offered if I can get 5-10 people signed up. Once I get the payments, the kits will ship out.

The price is pretty good considering the other alternatives are well over $600 and are not easily removable.

I will be interested in taking a Front/Rear set when it's ready. Given how much experience I have of the air suspension I would be happy to try this.

Do I assume that what your kit actually does is to alter the voltage readings from the hall sensors, thereby sending the control DME a corrected height reading?

p.s. how does it handle on a lower setting (say 1" lower), is there a noticeable improvement from a lower CoG?

The kit will work on full air suspension X5's and also rear-only air suspension X5's. This is why I am offering the kit as front only, rear only, or both (see pricing posted above).

Additionally, it should also work on most any air suspension BMW seeing that the kit is fully adjustable and most BMW air suspensions systems are universal.
