Transfer Case Actuator Replaced
Recently I replaced the Transfer Case Actuator as I had the Trifecta pf lights (and a mechanic told me it was the Actuator). However the lights remain on. I have cleared the codes using a C310+, but as soon as I start the car, the three lights come back on. I read on this forum that I need to re-set the car for th enew resistor, but can't find anything on how to do this. I also have the IPNA software running on a virtual machine on my laptop, and 3 OBD II cables, but when I try to use the software, I get a communication error? How can I re-set the car to accept the new Actuator? JG |

What error comes back? You need to confirm you didn't pick up a different fault that was masked from the actuator

Did you put in a new classification resistor also? They are specifically paired by an acceptable range and can't be swapped willy-nilly (another don't ask what I did) Sent from my SM-A730F using Tapatalk

Does the classification resistor pair with the transfer case or actuator?

What is a Classification Resistor? Is that part of the Actuator (the circuit board between the gear and the motor)?

Yeah, found out what it is.
We re-used the one from the original Actuator. Just replaced the whole actuator (Motor, circuit board and gear). It did not come with a resistor. Do I need to change that also? The error code is something about the resistor being faulty, but I thought that was because we had changed the Actuator. The seller (on eBay) said "After installation you need to have it taught." Not sure wehat that means. |

This is the Classification Resistor

Yes, I figured out what the Classification Resistor is.
Now my question is how to get the car to accept the new Actuator? Do I need to change the Classification Resistor? Again, how do I get the car to accept the new Classification Resistor? |

Have you pulled the battery cables off and waited a few minutes to help clear codes?
If not start there, then if you've changed your transfer case oil do a oil service reset and scan again. Sent from my SM-A730F using Tapatalk
