No joy in Muddville today. The new Saleri pump I received from FCP is the same crappy quality pump they sent me 4 years ago.

Size: 140.8 KB bmw540san's BMW pump has the better PPS-GF 40 impeller. FCP's website shows this impeller on their OE Saleri pump: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...ri-11517509985

Size: 127.1 KB Again, no casting marks on this one I received.

Sadly, I'm going to have to send this back and get something different. The pump I received had obviously been returned by someone else, as the box was ripped open. If you purchased and installed a Saleri pump from FCP in the past few years, I suggest you pull it and inspect to see if it has the same crappy impeller. If so, you may want to put in a different pump to reduce/eliminate the risk of impeller disintegration resulting in being stranded and overheating your engine. For $50, it's not worth the risk.

AM.

Damn, I hate it for you.
Why not do as I did:
When I noticed t-stat was leaking I didn't want to wait on FCP Euro so I checked local parts store.
To my pleasant surprise, Autozone had Mahle t-stat which is what I bought and installed.
Price was similar to FCP and yes, only 1 year warranty but at least no shipping back and fort hassle.
You should check your local parts store for good quality WP. That way you can see what they have before buying.

I'm not in a huge hurry as this E53 is a spare vehicle for us. I'll probably get a Hepu pump from FCP so I can still warranty the failed pump. I've never taken advantage of their lifetime warranty, but I think I'll send a few things back to help make it worth the effort of the return.

I agree. I’ve been finding a few decent parts at my local OReillys when I don’t want to wait for FCP. And I’ve also been getting some crap from FCP lately too. Rear wiper arm that doesnt make contact fully, crappy bent up alternator pulley. I do still use them for most stuff due to the warranty, but I was happily surprised to find a rebuilt starter motor at oreillys a couple months ago and happily put it in. So far so good.
