Just wanted to follow-up with this for everyone.
Checked the connections. All seemed fine. I was worried that the GPS antenna crapped out and was ready to buy it, but first thought to swap out another NAV MK IV unit to see what might happen and it worked great. Drove around for a few days and then realized that all my saved locations were now gone (since they are stored in the memory of the NAV unit itself), so I reinstalled the old unit to write down the important saved locations in order to transfer them to the new unit, and what do you know, but it started working and has been fine for the past 2 weeks! Go figure.

Having sailed boats on and across oceans I can tell you that weird things happen with GPS. Once, coming up the east coast of Puerto Rico enroute to Rhode Island the $10K chart plotter showed us making a 90 degree right turn and heading straight for some rocky islands. Fortunately it was daytime and visibility was perfect. I could see the islands and we were paralleling them not crossing them (as the GPS ultimately said we did). This went on for several hours while I checked connections and looked for possible interference. The next day everything was fine again.

And we're going to have self-driving cars?
