Nav display wrong - no satellites!?

Has anyone had their navigation display suddenly stop working and not have a clue on the cars exact location? The upper right corner of the navigation screen used to show a little green satellite icon and now there is nothing. See attached 2 photos. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Btw it's a MK IV DVD based system in a 2006 X5.

Mine isn’t working either all of a sudden. But I have a different error it’s just saying “please wait a minute” but it’s froze in that view.

You mean from the Nav drive itself (that runs the DVD map)? Just checked, no such luck. All 3 connections are a-okay.

Did you check all the antenna connections. There are several antenna connections...

The GPS antenna is under the hatch top...

The cable runs into the hatch lid and there is a joining connection (X01040) under the plastic cover...

It then runs into the back of the Nav unit...

Wow. Great info. I will look into both connections. I can't imagine why they would have come loose though? What do you think the chances are that the GPS antenna has died? Is that something that ever happens in these cars?

wpoll,
Where do you get detailed wiring diagram "x####" location photos? I'm fixing to trace down some EWS pin/connections. The Bentley has a few but the smaller circuit stuff is missing.

You can get this info from BMW WDS...

https://bmwteka.com/wds/en/e53/

I have the Android app on my phone too. On a computer, it works best in Chrome and can be switched from Russian to English.

*edit* Oh, the photos you said.... well, that's a story I can't discuss in an online forum.

Wher I work I get to use a lot of Satellites. Many times in High
military areas, they just go off line.
We ask the controller if there is a reported outage.

“ No Sir, everything shows it working down here”

Same answer every time.
So as to the satellite’s not being able to be received,
Oh Yes, all the time.

My E46 just had this issue. No rhyme, no reason, the GPS just quit. I didn't spend any more time than checking the connections at the navigation unit and I just replaced the MKIV navigation system with a AVIN Avant-4. The factory MKIV is quite outdated so the Android conversion was certainly an upgrade to more current day features.
