Anybody have success getting door panel "leather" re-adhered?

I am strategizing before my new roller-blind shade arrives. Has anyone tried/succeeded in stretching this material back into place? I'd love any feedback of what could work or definitely doesn't...thanks!

A reputable upholstery shop could easily fix it. I've also seen seemingly clean looking black door cards on ebay still. Brown/tan seems to be harder to find, especially for the driver side door unfortunately.

I'm having a new headliner put into my X and switching it over to black Alcantra/faux suede, so I've been buying all the bits and pieces for my roof and pillars from an ebay seller, and they are showing up in good condition. The prices have been reasonable too. I'm sure the guy has door cards. PM me if you would like his contact info.

3M spray adhesive.

I have used it to put new leather on center console arm rests, door arm rests, door panels, etc.

Awesome, thank you! As for the trim piece, it looks like heat may have caused the issue while in “care” of previous owner…I’m concerned about shrinkage (no Seinfeld references, please). I’ve never tried to manipulate this material and thought there might be tips for how to stretch it prior to affixing???

Shrinkage is the big issue. It'll be hard to stretch that back in place.

Generally, this is the kind of thing that you're better off picking up a replacement panel for since they are still cheap.

Yeah, my first choice is replacement door card, but cremebeige walknappa exclusivleder -V9GE has been difficult to source in the US on the used market. P/n is 51427142552. I’ve only been looking for a few months, but hoped I could get away with just new roller-blind trim.

Hopefully it's just a black panel with a leather insert in cremebeige. That should be relatively easy to transplant as needed.

I've stolen these pictures from a random ebay auction...

As you've shown, you have a black door panel with a colored leather insert. If you look at the picture of the back of the door panel, you can see that the door panel is held in by black plastic plugs.

Now, the plastic plugs are a little annoying. BMW basically hot riveted the panel in place by melting the plastic. But you can remelt and apply some adhesive in a swap.

It doesn't hurt to try to stretch your current panel back into shape, but I don't expect you to succeed. The panel swap is how you move forward after that.

not sure if you can pry loose the top trim, but if so it should be a relatively easy fix with a bit of heat and a wide clamp. Spray adhesive and let dry for a minute or so before pulling into place. You'll have 1 shot at it
