2006 E53 X5 3.0i 100k Mileage Maintenance Advice
I did a few forum searches but could not find what I was looking for. I apologize in advance if this was already discussed. I am coming up on 100k miles and would like to determine what specific maintenance should be performed at this time. Any and all advice is appreciated! - BlackPantherX5

If you don't know the maintenence history..... everything.
Front and rear diff fluid change. Transfer case fluid change. Transmission fluid and filter change. Cooling system refresh. Replace any leaking oil gaskets. Spark plugs Fuel filter Inspect cv boots Replace engine mounts Serpentine bent Tensioners and pulleys All these things regular people tend to neglect until it breaks. |

Suspension refresh to include the strut bearings (? term) above the shock towers, check roof drains and brakeline inspection and don't forget the transmission mount.

In addition to above, please take a peak behind the plastic cladding underneath the driver's side door and look at brake lines...They are likely rotted at one junction under the drivers door.
You don't have to pull all plastic off to look..Just pull a few rivets/screws and take a peak with a flashlight. |

All the above for sure. I bought mine at 143k miles. I'm now finishing up the last. I did the oil filter housing gasket as the most important. If it's not leaking, do the most important stuff first. Or easiest.

Thanks a lot everyone, your posts are very helpful. I do know the history since this was a family car and I am the 2nd owner. My step-mom gave me a handful of receipts, and I assume she did her best to keep up on maintenance, but after skimming thru them to bounce off what you all listed here I noticed that 1) Many of her receipts were from the dealer, during the warranty period, and cosmetic or noises she heard that she didn't like...simple stuff/non-issues and 2) Some of the receipts for more major things have text and codes that I am unable to easily translate. So I will spend some time this weekend going line by line to get an idea of where I stand at this time.

That's a great idea... just put it into a spreadsheet and organize with a column for date and mileage, so that it's easy to sort. Even if you don't know what the code means, still put it on the sheet and look it up later. Might take a while but it'll save you time and money down the road.

Spreadsheet data as suggested. Date, miles, code, part number, source, cost, and comments. It's how mine are set up. For items not done yet, set them up for specific miles due by. Items completed will easier to search on a spreadsheet.

I would also add changing all main coolant hoses. Mike
