found a significant source of squeaks/creaks/rattles!
Nothing irks me more than sitting at the stop sign at the end of my street in the morning before work and the car hasn't warmed up yet and the mildest engine vibration induces a new and annoying high frequency squeak, creak or rattle in one of my front doors.
Well today when repairing my window regulator for the upteenth time I discovered what MUST be the source of a lot of these. On the back of the front door panels, at the bottom, the cavity part of the plastic door/map pockets are designed such that they snap into place...onto about 20 little brackets. Every one of these brackets can produces a plastic on plastic squeak/creak with the perfect frequency vibration or if the door panel is flexed at all. To eliminate the issue entirely, just hit each bracket with a little silicone spray. Completely eliminates the noises. Also the frame of the inside pull handle does the same thing against the interior where it meets the door card. A little silicone in that seam does wonders. You guys may already know this but I am constantly chasing down these things. I just really enjoy a vibration free ride now I need to dismantle the front seat and find the weight-shift, round the corner squeaks. : )
