No communication with dme or egs & other electrical issues

Hello everyone

New member here. Looking for help trying to fix an old X5.

First issue is that I'm failing to connect to my dme and egs with any tool I could have tested (INPA ISTA DIS) including some garage diag tools and Carly. Every other module I can access.
Is there something broken in my car or I need some specific files (IPO ect) that INPA doesn't have to be able to read it ?

I also have an issue with the alternator regulator who stop the charge after 30seconds-5min after engine start. So I drive with regulator disconnected. First alternator I had a battery light intermittently and I could force the alternator-regulator to charge by giving it a strong rev's up.

The car previously had a crash and I have a crash detection error in the zke module that won't go but I think there is nothing to do except change the airbag module and the airbags that have been triggered.

Even before all that it always had a radio/sound issue where it would loose sound and recover it by itself or with a small bump on the road.

My car is an X5 E53 4.4i 2001

if i didn't precised it the car start and works. just i have to access to dme & ags via obd and engine & gearbox errors doesn't appears on the ike screen, i have error for license plate lights ect but no info on the engine light or when my gearbox get stuck in 2nd gear.

can it be the ike that is defective?

the car got head airbag deployed and crash measures got triggered and still got the error in the GM, but no light & lock symptoms since i removed airbag fuse.

The BST may have partially blown so check that, also I believe that to clear an airbag deployment it takes a deep level program reset that I'm not sure is possible without some dealer computer.

How can I check bst has been deployed? I don't see any metal part getting out. The car start fine

ok thanks i'll check, but is that possible that everything works fine and the engine start with a triggered bst?

Found the issue... Someone cut some obd cables

So now I'll have to be looking for my alternator issue.

And I wonder if there is a tool to flash an ethanol map ? I got an ethanol mal but getting engine too lean errors.

No idea my father brought the car to someone to remove airbag light and I suppose he did some strange things to get it removed.. I still don't know how he got the light off. Right front head airbag got triggered by driving fast on some bump on the road but the engine had no trouble restarting after it.

So that's one issue fixed I also changed the ethanol map so no more engine light.

But I still have the alternator or regulator issue already changed it 2 times and the last one doesn't charge with regulator cable connected once the engine is hot. With regulator disconnected it charges while driving but not at a stoplight for example.

The first replacement the alternator had same issue stop charging when hot except I could make it charge again by accelerating to high rpm for 1-2 seconds (until next time I stop and restart engine -had to rev it again-). This one triggered battery light flickering but the second one no light. First one I could remove negative battery cable and engine would not stall the second one it stalls

Can it be the faulty aux fan that I disconnected? Something else?
