That sure does sound like the friction plates are worn out. I would repair but you should probably research it a bit so you know what you are getting into and if it's with-in your ability and comfort zone.

My only concern is if I need to be able to get the right resistor when I'm done. I keep reading different information regarding that part of the rebuild. I've done engine rebuilds, clutches, transmission swaps, etc. This work isn't beyond my abilities.

The other thing that can cause the trifecta is a bad yaw sensor and I think a bad wheel speed sensor. Have you checked those?

No other faults in the system. Running live data on those sensors show they are functioning properly.
