Side indicator light stays on even when the car is turned off

One night when coming home I noticed the passenger side indicator light was on, even when the car was turned off. The side indicator doesn't blink even when using the indicator light, just a continuous light. For now I have just removed the bulb to not let it drain the battery. Also tested with a brand new bulb but that didn't have any effect.

I read that issues like these can sometimes occur with a faulty light control module. Also, electronics are really not my strong suit but could a faulty indicator stalk be causing this?

Not sure if even related to this, but the driver side front park light has been a bit problematic for a while now. When turning the car and lights on, it first illuminates as the other side, but then starts blinking and then usually turns off. The light itself also seems to be not as bright as the passenger side.

Anything else to check or is there a way to pinpoint the cause or verify that the LCM is faulty or should I just start sourcing for a used LCM?

1. You need to buy a bidirectional scanner like the Foxwell nt-510 or nt-520 but NOT the 530.

2. Read codes and post them if you get stuck.

Thanks for the advice! Checking for the codes didn't even come to mind in this case. I guess INPA works as well, I'll check this today and try to look for a menu related to lighting.

My LCM got wet because of a leaking sunroof... some lights stayed on. Resetting it with the foxwell made things good again

Just making sure you did not leave the turn signal stalk in the up or down position when you turned car off? Doing so will cause the light to stay on...

I just thought about asking the same thing.

That's a parking safety feature. Several of my cars will do that if you leave the turn signal lever in that position.

Same thing came to mind but this shouldn't be the case here since I guess the effect should have reset when the car has been started over and the lights switched on/off several times.

Anyway, I read the codes and under LCM there is an error code 16 status wire 3 of PowerMOS always active. Does this sound like a LCM problem? I found a discussion regarding an E39 with a similar error code and a high beam staying on where it was mentioned that a FET in LCM has short-circuited which causes the issue. This could be fixed by replacing the FET. Not sure if this would work in my case or what is the correct type of FET though. I also found a company in my country which could repair the LCM but it is limited to LCM2 and I think my '03 with xenon lights is LCM4? Or I could always just buy an used one and code it in.

I could also try this. I wonder what is INPA equivalent of reset, just clearing the code?

If the parking light fails the same side indicator light is turned on.
