M62 water pump...PITA!
Ok fine, pull the water pump, and the two water pipes behind the water pump decide to come along for the ride. Cool, will get o-rings for them then. However, I didnt know those pipes are like a couple of feet long and they attach to is at the rear of the engine! So now it looks like I'll have to pull the intake manifold to replace those pipe orings or risk a leak...

As long as you have to go in that deep, you may want to consider new seals for the rear coolant manifold. Just a thought since you are 80% of the way there anyway.

Ah yes, German engineering!
The "pull the engine to fix all leaks once and for all" thread doesnt seem so drastic anymore lol

Hahaha, yes, been there and done that! Literally. Had the engine out and replaced every seal and did the Vanos. Very satisfying but it did take me a very long time to complete :-).
If you pull the intake , you want to think about the valley pan while in there.

^Definitely seriously looking at the shotgun approach lol!
Whatever gets pulled will get every gasket and seal replaced for sure now!

Oil separator and hoses will be nicely exposed too…you actually have to pull the separator off to get the manifold off. A full refresh of of the system is cheap at that point.

^I think I already had an indy do the CCV some time ago, will check my records. I remember him replacing a lot of seals at the rear of the manifold then. What I cant recall is if we did the valley pan then.
