Help please!!!! Got rear-ended from this acura tsx. What to do?

This is the first time the X gets into an accident! The guy was in a hurry cutting off cars and before he noticed the car in front of him had stopped which was me. Thankfully everything is fine health-wise now the bottom part of the car got messed up, like the exhaust pipes terribly damaged along with the bumper which surprisingly stood in place but got cracked. Now i gotta get an estimate but is not only the body thats messed up so should I call the dealer even thought its not under the warranty anymore? I just dont wanna take it anywhere

Maybe your insurance company can cover it through their warranty?

Many dealers do not have their own body shop, and get an outside shop to do the work.

Just find a good body shop in your area and take it there, and have the insurance company deal with the pament/fixing of everything.

Don't worry... it will recover and be back up and running in no time.

bring it to the dealer, they will use original parts depending on the insurance company, and will notice things that are damaged beyond some joe schmo guy at an indy body shop. check the exhaust hangars, if they are shifted foward, the exhaust manifolds, cats, center muffler, and both rear mufflers will need to be replaced.

I agree with killcrap. If your exhaust was contacted then u must check your exhaust manifolds for leaks if the damage went that far. Hangers, cats, lower control arms rear carrier bushings could have broke. Go to your dealership and see who they use. The acuras insurance will cover everything

I agree - your dealer has to have a shop they use (if not their own) and even better if it is a BMW-certified shop. Mine has been in 3 accidents, two of them rear-enders (I was rear-ended), and my BMW-certified body shop did an excellent job on the repairs. All work guaranteed for life of ownership.

Thank u very much guys for all your input, I took it to the dealership and got an estimate for $5.500. The guy said that they will get the insurance company to cover it because it was their fault and if anything they will take care of it. Also took it to another shop and they kind of said the same thing and that usually with bmw's its 95% sure that parts have to be original and no off the market or anything like that. Im somewhat more relieved but until I dont see the X they way it was I wont be able to have a good night sleep

Thanks again guys, I will definitely ask they dealer to check again for all those parts and will post some pics tomorrow!
