I don't know how they did it but the key place here did 2 keys for me and they both show as key 10...

Hopefully someone here knows how to do that and can explain it!!

Interesting. Have you checked an EWS module is installed? I wonder if they removed it and reprogrammed the DME? Did they just cut keys?

Finally got some more time to pursue this issue and although I had power just fine on the wire you found broken above I wasn't sure about the wire on pin3 at the FZV amp as it reacted to the key press but didn't show voltage without a key press.
So I bypassed the whole wire from FZV to GM3 with a temporary wire through the car interior. No response... Tried the key resync that I have tried a million times before and the locks cycled and all working!

I removed the rubber boot and some headliner but no exterior signs of a wire break. I must have disturbed something though as when I removed the bypass wire the remote still works.

I will monitor the situation but if it stops working again it won't be too difficult to splice in a repair section.
