Fog lights errors

I'm getting foglight errors on the dash, in bmwscanner, ISTA etc.
From the diagram, it seems that it's a pretty much straight connection, from LCM directly to the fog lights.
I did notice the fog lights have no connectors, just wires going to them. Not sure why or what the previous owner did to them.
But they do work when I turn them on by pressing the forlight button.
What could be the cause of the errors?

wpoll will become famous soon enough
Has a PO fitted LED bulbs in the fog lights? That would cause these errors..... (along with the number plates lights).

The lights seem halogen man

As for the number plates, yes they're led, I'll get to them

I ONLY thing I can think of...
These lights are H11.
My X5 is 2002/01.
If I'm looking thing up properly on realeom etc, the lights should be H3 up to 2002/10, and then change to H11.
Both H3 and H11 lights seem to be 12v 55W.
But the PO maybe installed H11 lights?
Though I don't get it, H3 lights are so small, I don't know how they would even mount in the fog light housing...

please do yourself a favor and go to a pick n pull yard and cut off the proper wiring harness and connector FROM a donor car. This looks very sketchy and there seems to be resistors in the lines you have hanging out of your bumper (which is probably the cause of errors, too).

OH DUDE, I just noticed you are in Calgary too. Pick-n-pull on Barlow has 3 e53's there now and I was just holding the for lamps FROM an older (pre-LCI)....

WAIT, WAIT, wait I now see you have LCI (2004-2006) fog lamps in a Pre-LCI (1999-2003) so thats why the wiring is different.... There was a set of Pre-LCI fog lamps with the back caps and all (which are WAY better than the LCI), as they are Projectors, unlike the ones in an LCI (what you have showing) which are just reflective bowls....until I noticed the TOP plastic tab (which guides/snaps into place) was MOSTLY (not all) broken on each lamp, so I didn't buy them (but left them loose sitting by the radiator of the black Pre-LCI in Row 19. BUT they COULD potentially be fixed, OR in theory you could use a dab of silicone to help HOLD the top part in place and you can grab that wiring and fix it all in one shot.

Correct, the housings are totally different for the H3 bulbs and WAYYYYYYY BETTER light output, as they are Projectors and NOT reflectors, like after 2002/10. Its an upgrade for the LCI to put the older Projector fog lamps INTO the LCI,s BUT the only issue is the 4.8iS can't accept them because of clearance issues. They can for in a 4.4 and 3.0 perfectly tho. Ask me how I know SOOOO MUCH better light output with a nice cut-off pattern.

OR, if you really want to keep the LCI for lamps, then go to Pick-n-pull on Barlow, Row 22 has a 2005 4.8iS and you can cut the wiring harnesses/connectors from IT and splice onto the factory LCI wiring but then you'd have the proper wiring connector for the reflective lamps (parts 63176920885 and 63176920886)

Thanks for all the help figuring out the differences in years and models. Now things make sense
I'm surprised that the fogs from lci fit, I thought numbers were different...
Before doing anything else I just wanted to fix the errors.
There's no resistors in line, I followed those two wired and they go into the wire loom.
The connectors are not a big deal, I can just order those on Amazon, no need to go to the scrap yard for that, unless that 4.8 X5 also has nappa leather in good conditions
Still unclear what's causing the errors...

they are different number because they are a totally different part but just happens to bolt onto the bumper perfectly.

Sorry I meant to say different bumpers.
I expected the mounting points for fog light to be different, kinda like headlights from lci won't fit into pre lci.
Well I'm glad they're interchangeable...but still unclear why the errors...
