Real-world E53 wheel weights
As I was shuffling wheels around yesterday, I decided to get out the shipping scale and post up the weights of various wheel/tire combos to serve as a historical reference.
These are wheel/tire combos because I didn't feel like de-mounting and re-mounting tires just to weigh them (I'll weigh the bare rims next time I change tires). Style 57 (17x7.5) with Michelin 235 65 17 8/32 tread - 55.6 lbs Style 130 (17x7.5) with Michelin 235 65 17 9/32 tread - 56.9 lbs Style 69 (18x8.5) with Continental DWS 255 55 18 8/32 tread - 59.5 lbs Style 87 F (20x9.5) with Bridgestone Dueler H/P RFT 275 40 20 8/32 tread - 75.6 lbs Style 87 R (20x10.5) with Bridgestone Dueler H/P RFT 315 35 20 7/32 tread - 80.5 lbs I was surprised the Style 87s weighed so much. From the parts book, they should be 27.4 lbs front and 31.5 lbs rear. Bridgestone says those tires weigh 41 lbs front and 47 lbs rear when new. Subtracting those new tire weights from my wheel weights, the rims would be more than 34.6(f) and 33.5(r) since the tires have some wear. And, these are all OEM rims BTW. I'd be interested if anyone has good weights (not bathroom scale) of the style 63 & 132 with or without tires to compare.
