Fair point yes. Doors are on the priority list. Roof I’ll probably leave as is since the only things coming from above will come in anyway XD

Thought of that as well. Already welded the front and made most of the chromoly push bars (y) still need to finish the slide bars front to back. I feel sorry for the person who accidentally drives into the x5 somewhere

You can use tube or square pipe welded up and pressurized for bumpers and to refill tires plus they deflect the shit out of rounds

I’m basically using the ar version of tubing already. Dom Chrome moly. Not cheap pipe…..
2x2inch tube right in the middle. With some box section going into the frame rail

For air I’ve put an compressor in the back. Slime layered my tires with an extra tyre inside and filled that one with balancing beads so no shaking and shimmy’s for me!

Only not sure about these weld on bead locks.

Would love to run them but they are a bit on the thinner side. Plus the idiot who sold me this never mentioned you have to but and bolt everything…. Can you imagine fixing a wheel anywhere near the frontline and having to do 600 nuts and bolts XD might as well just walk home then hahahah

Hello

Not a ballistics expert by any stretch, but have you considered replacing some/most/all of the glass with Lexan? There is a coated version called Mar-Gard that has outer layers almost as hard as glass, so not easily scratched.

best of luck.

Hi

Thanks for the input! I actually haven’t considered going full poly or lexan. Mainly cause I’d like to always be able to get out of the car. So even though a full 3 inch bullet resisting window would be amazing. It’ll take the ability to escape away. Since I’m not hunting 50 cal I wanted to stick with a lower tear film on the inside. But thanks for idea!

Lexan Yes, Ply no

Hi again,

Digging through the cob-webbed corners of my memory here, but I seem to recall that Poly wasn't very good for impacts. Won't shatter, but will crack and/or break.

I know that Lexan is approved for some racing classes, but Polycarbonate is not (might depend of variant)

bets wishes
Ken
