2006 front left PDC sensor replacement.

I have all new sensors and a new module for the PDC to fit. It is simple enough by the video I have watched.

My problem comes from a white car park ratbag who tried to cut the corner and instead cut my left front bumper instead. This made the sensor worse...But more importantly it has broken the clip that surrounds the sensor on this year.

Has anyone ever replaced the clip retainers for the parking sensors on the front left side of the 2004 - 2006 e53?

I have included photos of

a) my broken clip out which is part of the retainer,
2) image of the sensor being removed from the front, and
3) image of the back of the sensor removal. Red lines denote the size of the sensor retainer clip piece

jB weld is your friend.

I poked my PDC into the bumper trying to clean it. I ended up putting two screw right though the bumper cover neatly arranged left and right of the sensor. Not for everyone but I don't mind a little form and function at times.

If it was only that, I would not be concerned.

Like you I am sure I could figure a way to make it sit back out there.

My problem is the break of the outer, it allows a torrent of water in at speed and the connection was full of it.

Possibly why the PDC module poo'd itself.

Soooo, I want to replace the crappy thing and reduce the water intake before i put the new control module in. Them suckers ain't cheap!

Sorry for the long delay, left for China on the 19th and my VPN which was all set up as per their hour long tech session failed on day one. I did get a VPN from my Canadian friend in Chongqing, a week after arriving but it was on my phone only using his last account number. Not enough room to add all the stuff I needed, plus it was Chinese New Year, food and drink for two weeks. LoL

That just might have to be the best of the solutions, I played with JBweld, but it was not as easy as it sounds to make it hold the shape and release the sensor, even with separation material.
Body filler was next, and we had a heat wave of 39c-41c days...not good for trying to get that done before it went off even using the correct techniques for temperature variations.

I cant remove the panel as it is plastic welded from the back, and it hold two sensors. The left corner and left center. Plastic putty I have used when building model aircraft and it never even crossed my mind I will do that and some astute dremel work. then the airbrush.

Thanks EODGuy.

Here's the part that is plastic welded (?) to the inside of the facelift bumper...

There's a few around on the 'net for sale...

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/314815863510

Price reflects availability!!

Fitting this will require removing the entire bumper.

Nice find mate, these are Rear mounts though

My front is definitely plastic welded to the bar and a single piece holds both left sensors.

It shows up on OEM parts front bumper but not as a part item for some reason. It is the full facelift version and even the E70 is different, using the same front and rear.

Thanks, I followed the search link but nothing to match my part style. Jeff

Well, the parts I showed are what my 2005 has on the front outer positions - as per the second picture - not sure about your 2006.

The long single bracket is off the pre-facelift only

Are you sure you aren't mistaking the foam insulation for a long bracket...?
