Thanks to SG and Michelle, I got the chrome rings! (Bling! Bling!)
I have a 2001 X5 3.0i which has the simple 4-function OBD and the simple pixel cluster (the one that DOES NOT burn out pixels, unlike the 8-function ones). Check out the pic with gauge cluster removed and see what is behind it in the dash....dang, look at the tubular steel frame!  Anyhow, the difference with my instrument cluster is that it has two connectors in the back....otherwise, the install is the same. Here are the pics....(dang, my X5 has gotten some nice gifts: Bluetooth, Chrome Rings, and RE Camber Plate install today!)
