Door latch R&R problem

Did a search but nothing answers my problem.

Replacing the latch/DLA on left front door. I got the cable to the door handle undone, the three T30s are out, the electrical connector is off, and I can't get the f'ing thing out.It feels like it's hanging up on something like maybe the internal part of the outer handle. I popped off that little plastic cover above the latch area and can't really see what's going on in there.

I had to stop as it's a swampy 95F/34C and I'll try again once the sun isn't blasting down on the car... the Bentley just says remove the above and it'll come out. Well, it's not. I've taken these out of junkyard cars without this problem.

Also very happy that one of the two junkyard parts works for lock AND unlock! The other appears to be dead. The old one is also dead. I just can't seem to get it out!

Door latch R&R problem

I think I determined it was at least twice as easy to remove the DLA when the DHC is not in the door. Food for thought. Else I seem to recall riding m turning the DLA 90° vertical got it past the hangup. I'll see if I can find my notes. You do have to release the inter and outer grips from the DHC cable.

Yep, both the ball end and the clipped piece are off.

Looks like there's an allen bolt I missed under that plastic cover that's a bitch to remove. I'll try again once it cools down a little.

It was the lock cylinder Thx!

Turns out the junkyard part I tested was for the REAR door %&*(*^ and the front junkyard one is bad. putting it back like it was and dropping the $$$ for a new DLA because I am tired of this bullshit.

At least I know the rear one works before I tear into that one!

Are you talking about the door latch (DLA) or the handle carrier (dhc).

The door latch you unlock with the inside handle pull. You can do this with a gloved (or well calloused) thumb.

Look though my DLA icloud album.

Aha you saw that before I edited... I was able to undo it. It's all back together. For now.

The right panel went on so easily but when I put the left one on I heard at least three new clips basically shatter and pieces of clip fell on the ground... ugh, but that panel is coming back off shortly once I get a new DLA (I know you have an extensive repair thread about those but I really don't have that kind of skill). The black middle clip was missing so I took it off the right door. Maybe the mounting for that was bent or something because it was a bitch getting it all lined up.

The big middle clip is special sand hard to break easy to fall off into the door or elsewhere. I like to have a spare

That black middle clip has a right side (out) and a wrong side (out). The right side out has the large opening facing the metal clip that will slide into it.

The photo I've posted elsewhere shows the black clip upside-down and the open side (on the right) is the side the slides over the metal clip attached to the door.

I *think* I got it in right, but I'll verify next time it's off. Thanks for that.

Now the alarm won't set and the left rear door won't lock... I didn't even mess with that one. Eh whatever...
