That's some nice feedback on the 50e.

40e or 45e is my "dream car".

A long term review of 10,000 miles the guy got 50 mpg average with 25 on gas and 75 on electric (and that was in England with for sure higher electric rates than middle America).

Pure electric for normal city use is fantastic.

This would suggest it's the master switch not the rear, but I think that the relay that runs the window is in the rear door switch so unplugging should fully disable the door.

The front door switch is famous for getting water in and corrosion causing problems with the windows. Usually the driver window stops going up but any of the switches can be affected.

If the kiddie switch didn't work, signs point to the rear switch in the master switch box.

Thanks all for the advice. Rear switch unplugged and kiddie switch “on” seems to keep it in one place, hopefully until the parts come.

Honestly, the Idrive and other technology is probably a no brainer for many. The dealerships have a “Genius “ guy on staff who takes appointments and will do a deep dive into the stuff.

We wanted an x3 hybrid, or M as part of a downsizing effort, but the new one wasn’t out when we needed a car and “last years” model were getting hard to find. Our 2015 grand Cherokee sold to our younger daughter at the good-guy price, so it was time. I almost had my wife talked into a base model M3 (standard gearbox), but we’ve got two bird dogs that need hauling around when the E53 is in the airport lot and we donated the 93 Grand Cherokee to NPR. I got a bit misty eyed seeing it go. My point about the M3 having rear doors and seats wasn’t convincing.

I think I mentioned previously, but the seats are the nicest things about the new BMWs.
