Door latch R&R problem

Did a search but nothing answers my problem.

Replacing the latch/DLA on left front door. I got the cable to the door handle undone, the three T30s are out, the electrical connector is off, and I can't get the f'ing thing out.It feels like it's hanging up on something like maybe the internal part of the outer handle. I popped off that little plastic cover above the latch area and can't really see what's going on in there.

I had to stop as it's a swampy 95F/34C and I'll try again once the sun isn't blasting down on the car... the Bentley just says remove the above and it'll come out. Well, it's not. I've taken these out of junkyard cars without this problem.

Also very happy that one of the two junkyard parts works for lock AND unlock! The other appears to be dead. The old one is also dead. I just can't seem to get it out!
