Pushing for 300,000 miles. It's going to be another year or 2. It's nice not having a car payment.

But it seems lately that anything that breaks is always on a Friday and today it is the driver door handle carrier. So ordering any kind of parts today, delays any repairs into next week.

So for the next 5 days, I have to enter the passenger side and reach across to open the door from the inside so I can walk back around the X to finally get in.

I love my X5 but it seems like my baby just wants to screw with me and laugh about it for days.
Glad to hear from you Overboost! I've been wondering why we haven't seen you in awhile.

When mine broke on the drivers side and I had to wait for the replacement I would roll the windows down with the key fob when walking up to the car. Then all I had to do was reach inside through the open window to open the door. Then had to roll everything back up when I got back in, but I tried the reach across from the passenger side and it was too cumbersome.

I have the same goal. Only 17,000 miles away. Then I'll probably push for 350, depending on how she's doing at 300.

Oil consumption seems to have jumped, but I can't see any leaks.

I mean, except for the PS lines which need replaced. One is NLA for the N62. FCP has a Rein(?) part, but I found an OEM at ECS. I bought two bc, well... read on.

Oh, and the tail light bulb socket will need remove, solder and replace.

And yes, my drivers door carrier is waiting as well.

Front ball joints(?) or *something* is making a noise. Not allll the time, either. I can't get it to replicate reliably. But I DID get the noise on video. So it DOES happen. And I can prove it!
BTW: Has anyone seen or heard this? Like the front end GROANS and squeaks like a haunted mansion's front doors. Pentosin level is fine. It's got me stumped.

And don't get me started on the mirror(s). Yes, now BOTH are snarfed.
4.4
Still haven't fixed both mirrors.

The solid core suspension bits from Turner await install.

Driver's window regulator is finally in stock.

Yep. Time for PS hoses in it as well.
About the only thing that makes any of this any fun is the PS reservoir I found from Turner. I ordered two because I don't yet need the 3rd for the E38. But I sure do wanty.

Haunted house noise is likely a seized ball joint. Why the PS reservoir ? That looks like a really expensive alternative ?

Thanks. I was thinking ball joint as well. I guess it works itself into and out of the 'catch.' It's quiet today.

I agree it's expensive, but I do have a sickness when it comes to ordinary stuff like this with available alternatives. I'd like to think it does a better job than OEM and doesn't leak. But that's probably just an excuse for the under hood eye candy and the peace I extract from upgrading parts for no good reason other than that an upgrade exists.
