Is there any way you mixed up the connectors??
If the problem only happened after you messed with it then it's likely something you did and are missing.
This is a weird issue the only thing I did is disconnect and reconnect easily no force was needed, no pins were damaged, very smooth transaction.

I think I disconnected it with the car running of that makes a difference.

This guy had the same issue exactly but it doesn’t seem that there is an update.

Maybe try clearing codes and disconnecting the battery for a while to do a reset. I'm not sure but there might even be a reset function for the cluster itself.

So you can't activate the text display and no access to hidden menu? Double check the voltage supply (like you said fuses F1, F43, F45). If the fuses are OK, measure the voltage on the fuse connectors rail side with ignition on.

A friend of mine does pixel repairs on these clusters and can activate the cluster self test on the bench with those 3 voltage lines and 2 grounds.

There is a reset function on the hidden menu if you have access there. Another way is to recode it with for example NCS expert and it will boot again.

Makes all the difference - you could have anything from fried electronics to unresponsive data bus components.

Clearing all the codes might restore operation, if it's a data bus components are deactivated by the error codes.

Everything is possible but this kind of failure still unlikely. The diagnostic communication seems to work when you can connect connect to the module and it's showing the typical brake force code and nothing else. A failed I-bus communication could explain some symptoms like indicators not showing but not the majority like the whole text display.

I agree it's unlikely - the vehicle's comms bus system and circuity is pretty robust!

And yeah, clearly there is some limited form of comms working but if there was no other action that could cause the failure (beyond simply unplugging the looms) then what else could it be?

Total back-light lamp supply failure in the cluster? Not all of the lower display is back-it LCD, the warning indicator lamps are LED - but I guess they might use the same supply?

TIS indicates that the warning lamps are mostly ground-switched via the various modules (SRS, ABS etc.) but the signals (indicators) are a K-bus message from the LCM. Maybe even these use the same +ve supply.

If fuses F1, F43 and F45 are good and power is being supplied to the cluster connector X1175, pins 20, 21 and 22 then deeper checks might be needed...

I did clear the codes same results. I also tried disconnecting the battery for a while same thing.

Last night I check the battery and it had low amps, and from reading online weak battery could affect certain electronics. So I got a new battery but no difference problem is still there.

Yes, I can’t access the hidden menu. However, I can hear the warning sound “check self level suspension” when I first turn the car on. Or recently I have “check coolant level” sound is there as well.

I will check the voltage supply next as you mentioned.

Recoding is also worth the try. I will try this weekend, hopefully I can see videos of how to since i haven’t done this before (only watch someone do it once)
