When I tested the sunroof drains the passenger one was clogged and ended up leaking out through the glove box much like your picture. I think that would only be through a noticeable rain though so yeah it's probably your ac. I don't know where the drain actually is I think maybe it's in the transmission tunnel but if you can find the drain hose underneath the car you can put some weed whacker wire up and try to unclog it. That happened to my Subaru a couple times. The AC drain kept getting clogged up and water would leak out under the dash.

Yep, not a weekend job for this guy. That’s ugly.

Needs to be done at some point though as my blower has one foot in the departure lounge.

I had down time during covid...done it then...took my time. Its no joke but gets easier the more you do. Must be organized. Talking Dash removal.
Concerning the evaporator cleaning....they sell sprayers for that. I looked into it at Amazon. Heck BMW sells a kit too if I remember correctly.

My ride sat at the airport, uncovered, for two weeks. The remnants of Hurricane Helene doused the area for days, very heavy rain and high winds.

Got home Weds. Went to vacuum the beast and noticed wetness in the back seat carpets. Pretty damp but not soaking, no puddles. No signs of sunroof drain clogs, the headliner is dry, no water stains.

I'm thinking the volume of water and wind just pushed some rain through the rear door seals. I don't think the parking lot flooded, and everywhere else inside is dry.

I've left it with the sunroof popped and windows cracked, it's supposed to he warm and sunny for the next week so that should dry it out.

Possible water ingress sources?

I have some door seal problem on my left rear door. Nothing gets inside but after a heavy rain I'll get a good amount of water that is somehow inside the door seal and spills out when I open just the left door.

I suspect you have a similar situation and just the volume of water got over the top of the door threshold.

This only happens on my left rear door i will prob remove and examine the seal i suspect it's torn at the top or side and the rain builds up inside the seal. You could likely test with a bucket of water

Aha, good point. I replaced the rotted LR door seal from a junkyard car and had to cut it at the join and trim about 1/4" to get it to fit. I made sure the seam was at the bottom of the frame under the plastic cover, but maybe that's where it came from.

The carpet was wet on both sides though... and unless a LOT of water got in I don't see how it could jump over the very slight hump in the middle... oh well, it'll dry out soon. Hopefully there's nothing electrical under there that could get damaged.

With the heavy winds and rain the window seal is probably your culprit. Same thing happened to my rears. Know it was going to be hot the coming days so I left the windows cracked. Also knew I'd be out in the garage quite a bit so then I rolled the windows down so that air can get in eliminates that damp musty smell.
But I could have used my dry/wet vac. Things turned out fine tho.

It was pretty hot, sunny, and DRY this weekend so I left the doors and hatch open during the day. Smell be gone! Carpets dry!

Found a replacement LR door seal at the boneyard, will install soon.
