Airbag module calamity

Hello X-men,
I sent in my airbag module in to be repaired.
They took several weeks to get it done.
I installed it today and it is exact same problem.

I have several spare modules. Same part number
within a few months of production.
Can I. Install a junkyard unknown module?
I have a foxwell (schwaben) code reader.
I canclear airbag faults.
It’s such a Bee-Otch to get out.

Lots of scanners can't do anything with the airbag module and in a previous post you said you had six codes but didn't say what they were but there was a code for not being able to read the airbag module ??

I bought several “spare” modules. I swapped out my freshly repaired module for
an EBay module. Considering I spent 112 dollars to get mine repaired. They said it works perfect. Yeah right… cleared codes, airbag light out. NO FAULTS!
eBay 25 dollar part for the Win.

Nice! Good to know spares can be swapped in.

Glad you got it resolved. Terrible about the faulty repair.

Can you post the eBay listing. That might help if someone else runs into the issue

From what I have learned, if you get the correct part number module, and try to get reasonable close build date, it should work. These modules I bought
were 20 to 30 dollars shipped. Real OEM will tell you the part number you need for your particular X5. You MUST have a scanner tool that can clear airbag codes.
I have heard that a “blown” airbag module might not work when needed.
This is because the module has already blown the airbag. It thinks the job is done and supposed will not re fire. I have not proven that.
I also used a You Tube University video to access the module.
The center console has side panels that remove. You will access the module from the sides and not from the top down There s a metal plate that is overhead of the module. The video said to bend it, I removed mine. I did have to use wood wedge to push up the blower fan and gain access. It’s a doable method. It is very tight in there and you will need small 1/4 drive ratchets and small hands.
