Thumbs up X5 CPO'd recent fixes

My list of issues are now fixed on my CPO'd 2002 X5 4.4i with 48k miles:
- DRIVER DOOR ACTUATOR replaced. FREE
- SLIDING LOAD FLOOR rattle noise, finally fixed because they had to order parts. They replaced the Guide Rails and the Brackets. FREE
- FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS knocking. They replaced the Swing Supports. FREE
- 4 times in 2 months I turned the ignition key and just heard one "Click", then nothing. Had to remove the key and try again to start it. They Programmed the DME and cleared the Fault Memory. The Service Advisor called that a "Software Upgrade". FREE.

All this work took a total of 2 trips to the dealer, got to drive a 2006 X3 loaner and a 2006 330 loaner for a day or two each. FREE.

Morristown BMW (NJ) did a great job!

Reasons like everything above are more proof to me that I will only buy CPO'd. I had a 2001 Mercedes CLK320 that was CPO'd as well. Never paid a dime for anything but the 10,000 mile service.

Hope those fixes above help anyone trying to figure out similar issues with their X5.

Thanks I have not had any problems with my CPO 2002 3.0i X5 but I will keep and eye out for the issues you had.

I'm waiting on something to go here soon since I have 53K miles on it.

Similar experience...in fact, if the bugs go away for awhile, I'll forget I ever had problems.....it's quite possible CPO is the way to go. in Canada you're covered on a limited warranty up to 6 years or 120,000kms!

This is off topic a bit but does anyone know if one of those OBD II readers work only if your check engine light is on. I'm thinking about picking up one up on Ebay. I can use it for my 330i and my X5 just to make sure nothing goes without getting fixed on the CPO program.

Very much agree. Additionally, it allows you to get things fixed that you wouldn't necessarily pay to have fixed if you were sporting the whole dime. Things like peeling door handles, sticky CD cover, etc. I even had my cup holders replaced due to a persistent coffee stain. My CPO also came with new tires and a set of new floor mats because the dealer though they looked a little worn. As it turns out, the originals cleaned up great and I still have the new floor mats in a box in the closet.

Morristown BMW is by far the best i have been to...even though Open Road BMW in Edison, NJ is owned by the same company they are crap in my opinion...

I just had some major work done under CPO on my '01 3.0 (82k miles) at Morristown that Open Road told me wasn't covered (both Front Axles). Sean in service was very helpful and I highly recommend that dealership to anyone.

Great News, NervX5.
I'm due for my first dealer service for my CPO and hope they'll be fixing a failing trunk latch (the common water issue that makes it only open via remote, but not finger-press) as well as a tenacious cd-player up front that only ejects cd's about 1/4 of an inch out. I'm also wondering if the thermostat is working, since after a solid 6 hours of hard freeway driving, it still showed top-dead-center. Though I'd love to believe that's correct, it's nearly impossible given that I was driving through desert highways. The 'stat on my 740 went out every other year or so, and once resulted in a cooling system overhaul of $3k on my tab. Thank God for cpo warranty on this X5!
Enjoy the repairs!

Thanks, and good luck with the service!
Jeremy said it best: "Very much agree. Additionally, it allows you to get things fixed that you wouldn't necessarily pay to have fixed if you were sporting the whole dime."
Make a list of every little thing that may be an issue with the X5, and they should take care of it.
P.S. Since you mentioned the in-dash CD, if you don't have an OEM 6 CD changer in the trunk as well, I recommend it! That gives you a total of 7 CD's for those 6 hour drives you mentioned. So convenient. I got one, with the brackets, on ebay. Works perfectly!
