Is it Safe to Jack on the Rear Diffy ?
I'm not talking factory jack points on the sides but from the rear itself. While it's common to jack it via the rear diffy....I recall reading a blurb somewhere that stated that it's not good to jack up via the rear diffy. |

Chef: Yes, but I like to do it on the susp. arm/pivot point just left or right of the rear diff...in the link below, look down to the pic of the floor jack under the rear diff: I put a small square of plywood on the floor jack "pad" and lift under the susp. arm pivot just next to diff.
I suspect either way is fine: stability is the key, (jack stands rec'd if you even think about getting underneath), and slow and careful is the key. GL and be careful. BR,md PS: chock the front tars...it's a high lift to pull wheels off rear. http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/w...points-x5.html

Quote:
It's described at the bottom of this article: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/w...points-x5.html I used the rear diff and the front center point as recommended by this article when I changed brake pads this weekend, and they both worked fine. I used the lower pivot points--again described in the link above--to place my jack stands. Good luck! -Dave
