Unhappy Another X5 broken into in NJ

From RF: X5 broken into for Xenon Headlights

got off the train tonight to find the NJ transit police standing by my '04 X5 writing a report detailing how my headlights were stolen. They broke in through the drivers door lock, all the windows were down and sunroof was open when the cop found it and the headlights were gone, front bumber cracked on both sides and the drivers door scratched to sh*t.

I leased the X while living on LI last year and haven't been to northern NJ dealer yet, can anyone recommend a good dealer and/or have a way to save some money on repairs?

Thanks in advance...

That really sucks to hear. I live in northern NJ and now you got me worried all over again. I use to have a Acura TL and the Xeons got stolen twice out of that car. It was stolen once from the bridgewater mall and than about 6 TL's got hit in my office parking lot. I had this worry with my GS and my prior FX. HID's are now cheap to come by and less frequency of this happening now. The only reason I can think your X5 got hit is because of the angel eyes on the 04-05 models.

As for repairs, you can try park ave BMW or are you looking for a body shop to peform the work? If you have comprehensive, it is usually covered under that since it falls under theft.
Good luck and I hope this does not happen to anyone else.

that's my x that was vandalized... what a pain in the ass, people just suck.

I think i'm going to take it back to the LI dealer where I leased it, as long as driving during the day without any headlights isn't illegal, and have them take care of it. The mechanical stuff like the door lock and headlights can be done by service, and then the bumper and scratches will have to go to their body shop. I'm still waiting to hear back from my insurance agent to make sure that an adjuster can see it on LI considering I have NJ insurance, without it being an additional hassle. If not, then I still need recommendations on a dealer in Northern NJ with a good service dept and a good body shop.

did i mention that people suck?

BTW- In speaking with the NJ Transit Police officer who took the report, he said that stealing X5 headlights IS becomeing a bigger problem... he even recommended that I buy a beater to leave at the train station... I told him that it's a tough choice, either I drive teh X to the station, or my '04 Z06 Le Mans Commemorative Corvette.... either way i'm screwed.

Sorry that had to happen. Definately, "certain" people suck!!

Good luck with the repairs and the insurance adjusters.
