Paddle shift fitting to X5 - HELP

I have just bought an M3 CSL paddle shift steering wheel off of ebay for my 2005 X5 3.0d.

Please can anyone advise me if I have to buy anything to get the paddle shift working - or, does everything just plug in.

Thanks.

you have to run wires from the shifter to capture the signal at the paddles if you want the paddles to be functional.
