Funny how i too have a '02 with 59,600k and have the exact same problem and exact same solution. Bad a/c condenser fan, relay from the fan won't turn on the compressor therefore 'warm-ambient air'.
Cost of fan was $382 and installed the fan myself. |

I had the same problem in the end of last year, but my service center in HK said that it was something leaking behind the LCD display monitor. They changed the leaking thing and then I had A/C back again. However, it costed me about HK$14,000 (US$1,800). So fxxking expensive! God dam it!

I have a similar problem on my 2001 3.0 X5 and working on it right now. But, instead getting the $400 OEM aux fan, I've installed a replacement fan (16", 2100 cfm, $70 @ eBay). Easily installed and looks original. Here's my problem, when I plug the wires together, the fan went on and doesn't go off unless you unplug the wires. I suspect a damaged relay but do not know where to look for the aux fan relay or the a/c relay. I've tried the Online WDS with no luck. Anyone here can help me with any info is much appreciated.
