My dealer told me that the icelink is better as thats what he has in his BMW and told me not to bother with the BMW aux setup

W/ the Icelink you have control of the songs and also tags on your display whereas the aux setup doesn't. I am thinking of getting the Icelink soon.

I want one too

From what I understand the Ice install is simple a few plugs in the back.

The aux requires removal of the radio and no BMW display.

I would like to buy a Ice system as well and have asked Tom G for a group price.

A few key differences:

Icelink charges IPOD, Aux does not.
Icelink shows MP3 tag info on Nav or radio display, Aux does not.
Icelink integrates with steering wheel controls, Aux does not.
Icelink allows control of playlists via radio preset buttons, aux does not.

Aux works with CD changer, Icelink does not.
Aux allows for input gain adjustments via radio presets, Icelink's is done via IPOD's 4 output gain choices.

I have both and think that the IPOD sounds better through the Icelink, maybe due to better voltage matching of the IPOD line output vs. using the headphone output for Aux.

I decided to go with the Aux input because I wanted to keep the CD changer. My personal preference base on my needs.
