Engine Heat...

I have had multiple cars that get HOT, but is it normal for the amount of heat these engines throw off? It's absolutely INSANE! I can take my 03 cobra out in the 100* weather and drive down the 1/4 mile and it's still not as hot under the hood! It just almost doesn't seem "normal". HOWEVER, I have read threads about hoses getting gooey and what not, so I don't think this is a problem specific to MY x5.

Does anyone do cooling modifications? Something as simple as removing the heat blanket on the hood could release LOTS of the heat under there.

Just curious as a new owner...

Thanks,
Steve
