NO NO NO . You need to be asking the dealer why you don't have them first.
Maybe someone screwed up and they should be there. If so they should be installed for free. IMHO

I agree. Go down to the dealer but don't say anything about your X. Look at all the other X's like yours and take note of weather they have those lights. If after your done they all have them, then ask the dealer "under what circumstances would an X not come equipped with those standard lights"? If he says under no circumstances then you have a verbal commitment that theres something missing on your vehicle. Now they have to act because they have admitted that theres a defect in your vehicle that needs an adjustment.

I have the lights on my 2005 X5 3.0d Sport. Heated rear seats were optional and I don't have them - the kids still haven't forgiven me

It's obviously not year specific if your car, Amit, is a 2006. Also, its not engine size specific. Also, not linked to heated seats option. Sport?? Auto dimming mirror link??

Is buying a BMW becoming a lottery? - so many variables!!!!

My Britain version 3.0d M Sport has the lights as well as two others in the back.
Heater rear seats - yes.
Cannot comment further though.
