BMW road side assistance refused to change my flat tire today!!!

Its bad enough that i got a flat tire today on my way to work today. Then i call BMW assist. The tow truck comes and takes out my spare tire and says he cant put a 17 inch tire on a X5 that has 20s on it. So then i told him dont worry its fine and that the 4.8 has 20s stock and come with the same spare i do. So he calls up BMW roadside asks them what to do and they tell him to not change my tire because it will not match and will mess up my differential and DSC since it has X drive. He said the only thing we will do is tow it to the dealer. So i told him and BMW which was on the phone with him. To F#$K off and i changed it myself. Has anyone ever heard of this crap yet. I thinbk this is rediculous. WTF.

WTF??? Then why do I even bother to keep the spare tire in the X?? I might as well get rid of it now and call BMW Assist for a tow each time I get a flat. That's unbelievable, you're not having a lot of luck lately huh?? Sorry to hear about your mishap!!

I haven't heard of this before, but then again there's much I haven't heard before. As a business decision, a tow job to the dealer is more expensive than a tire change but BMW decided it was worth it rather than risk repairing damage due to a wheel mis-match. Seems to me BMW doesn't support 20's on a 4.4 for whatever reason.

Brave guy, I'd say. Proabably not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Somehow, I get the feeling, youre not a happy guy once that Italian blood gets flowing. Scare him a bit Tony? Was he slowly backing away?

I know i have no luck at all lately. But this just tops it off. It was so stupid. Does you 4.8 have a 17in or 18in spare. 1 thing i do know is that the 4.8 definately does not have a 20in spare. And the guy was trying to tell me all bimmers have the same size spare as what came on the car.
So then i said well the 4.4 came with 18 and 19 inch stock. then why do i have a 17in wheel as a spare. The guy disnt know what to say and he told me that the 4.8 has a 20 inch spare. I was so pist i just told him to leave and did it myself.

If a different size wheel hurts and X5 then why do we have 17 inch spairs when the come with 18 and 19. Same with the 4.8 and 20s. It just doesnt make sense. I thought i was on candid camera or the show punked. thats how rediculous this was.

That sucks. Shouldn't make any difference at all. If they are correct, why do other cars come with a compact spare tire???? All BS!

How long did you have to wait for the tow truck to come to tell you the bad news? I stopped calling Roadside because I once had to wait almost 3 hours. I just do everything myself; if I can. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

No definately not happy. and it was flowing. i wanted to kill him. But the phone operator was even worse because he was willing to do whatever the operator from BMW told him and they said dont change it have it flat bedded to dealer. I was in his face so hard i thought he was going to start crying. I was furious.

I know VW and AUDI have full size spares.

They said 90 minute wait he showed up in an hour. But i could of been out of there in 20 minutes if i just did it myself. I wish i never called them. Betwwen the wait the argument with him and the change i had to do myself anyway. I wasted 2 hours.
