I'm New!!
I just joined this site and I hope you can help me with some questions I have. I purchased a 2003 X5 3.0 last month. While I'm quite happy with my purchase, I'm ready to make some modifications. Tell me what you think about my upgrades: 1) I just ordered the clear tail lights (hopefully I will get them in three weeks!) 2) Tomorrow I may order the new 20's you see on the 2006 4.8 ( I love em!) 3) Due to the fact my car doesn't have the suspension the 4.8 has I won't get the same size tires you see on the 4.8. I'm currently looking at: Front Tires: 275/40-20 Rear Tires: 295/40-20 any opinions on that? 4) Monday I'm getting the driver and passenger windows tinted to match the rest of my X5. 5) Titanium Grill. (Yes or No? A friend thinks I should not do it.) 6) Hood vents ( Depending on above. I cant find them anywhere for my year! GRRRRR) Future purchases: 1) Running boards I think that's it for now. What do you guys think? Btw I have the Black Saphire with tan interior.

The folks here with 20's can advise you regarding your tire selection, but I would guess that most would tell you to go big! Get the TI front grill grill and running boards. It will look great with the saphire black paint. I have not seen any TI hood grills for the pre-facelift - maybe someone has come across them. Have a great time here and post pix of your X!

thanks for the welcome!
i really like the TI grill & the running boards as well! the grill is cheap, however, the running boards are not. hopfully i can get them aftermarket. here's a picture. i will take better pictures in the future--i promise. i will do a before and after as i receive the items.   i'll make sure it's washed next time...

:xoutpost: You have some good mod ideas and they will totally transform your X5. The 20's, running boards, titanium grille, and clear rear lights will look great. I would also suggest the white side markers; the ones just behind the front wheel wells. They're inexpensive and look much better IMO. Finally, you'll need to take care of the exhaust tips. Either get black chrome or chrome OEM covers or Ractive tips. Of course you could change the whole exhaust but your wallet will be taking a pounding as it is.

Nice car.
I dunno, I'm a sucker for clear taillights/front lights, but the yellow provides a real nice contrast with the black car... Plus if your getting clears up front, you'll never really get rid of the yellow completely, which makes me think, just stick with the yellow... Titanium grill is a must, definitively go for that. You should be able to find the titanium hood vents. Your BMW dealer must be able to order them... About the 132's. Will they fit without suspension mods? Please keep us posted... I do think the 132's are a bit over the top, for a car that isn't a 4.8is. Save some dough and get some smaller wheels/tires. Styling 63's are nice, and quite common and would fit the look of your X5 much better: So are styling 69: Oooh... 87, very very hot! Anyway, regardless of what you do with your car, good luck!
