Regarding Clear lamp

According to this post http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/l...02-bmw-x5.html

I can clear headlamps either by trim off the amber portion of the insert, or leave out the pastic lense pieces from the headlamp to make it completely clear. However, if I remove the plastic lens, doesn't this ruin where the lamp should be angle and lighting up?
