Folding Mirror Retrofit
Hi folks
I am ready to tackle my next retro .... folding mirror Awhile back, before X5world went thru a renovation, I recalled there was a detail article on this. A fellow forum participant had an extensive writeup including how to remove the door panels. That article is now missing. While perusing the articles on this topic, I saw this attached link (see below) www.xoutpost.com/showarticle-75.html but when I tried it, it came back blank. I am looking for a detail instructions on door panel removal, mirror housing removal as well as the mirror cover removal. I believe these were there before as I recalled reading them Many thanks in advance |

Your 'second Click me, too' had the link of the article that I recalled reading. Does anyone know the content within this link www.xoutpost.com/showarticle-75.html ??? This is found as part of the instructions posted within the BMW X5 Folding Mirror Retrofit section of X5world. Currently, if you click it, it comes back blank. Thanks again for your help. |

Hi there
Are there anyone who can provide me insight how to take the mirror housing apart? This is one mod that I am surprised with my progress ... it is getting late and I'll try to finish this tomorrow but at this time, I am looking for ways to disassemble the mirror housing. Any ideas ??? Thanks in advance |

When you mean the mirror housing, do you mean the cover, and the little trim piece?

I had to buy a new case because someone had stole mine. If I remember correctly, their are tabs on the top and bottom, so just push in the painted peice and seperate.
Here's a diagram of the mirror. Number 3 is the peice that that the painted cover connects too. ![]() Good luck bro.

Thanks
I will try pushing in the painted cover (top and bottom) tonight to separate the cover from the ring. Do you recall which side on the top or bottom to press on to release the cover??? Thx for the feedback. I am actually running into more issues on this. My existing non-powered mirrors is 'matt' black while the new power folding mirrors I bought are glossy black trim. Either I swap the electronics between my old and new folding mirror housing or I will need to get glossy trim for my B and C pillars so that my new mirror doesn't look out of place Any thoughts here too??? |
