You beat me to it! NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, put an M badge on a non-M car. One of the biggest mistakes a BMW owner can make.If you don't know what I mean, go post your pic with the emblem on an M forum and ask for comments. Anyway, here are a few pictures of our new/used '04 4.4 we picked up last weekend. I've been looking for about 2 months and found it on bimmerfourms. It's almost fully loaded, original owner with records and only 50k miles and one of the cleanest '04's I've seen (and now own).

///M has nothing to do with it ...

Supercharging your X may give you valid reason but a "groul" won't mean anything when you're at a red light with a performance SUV next you.

hey ChilliWilli thou have little faith in your Bimmer. -- there is not much SUV out there that can beat a 3.0 bimmer much less a 4.4 or better. I have no fear in my little rocket.

Maybe it's a poser or wannabe thing. Trying to represent your car as something it's not. I suppose its kinda like putting a V12 badge on a 325. It doesn't even exist. Besides, there is no such thing as an E53 M anyway... But if you like it, go for it.

It's like a transvestite: the outside appearance does not suggest what's under the hood. If it isn't an M, don't put the badges on. Now, let's say you do a swap to say, an S62, then I doubt anyone will argue with that badge on the car.

I agree.Everyone do what they like and people have to accept it.
Maybe its something that we all go through!I am guilty of removing the 316i badge from my first company car(I was only 24!) and replacing it with a 325 badge!I wouldnt dream of doing it now ,20 years later!
Then a few years later (1987) when I was lucky enough to buy my own M3-E30,I am sure I didnt approve of people sticking an "M" badge on their´s 316i

I remember then that the "M" badge was so sought after, that people stole them off cars.

Going back now, even Bmw maybe guilty of sticking and "M" badge on cars not produced by Bmw Motorsport/M-Technik).I am refering to the late 1980s M535i and M635i!Maybe someone will correct me here

Also,if it wasnt for the Mazda MX5,maybe the 4.6is would have an "M" badge instead of the "is".
