There are a plethora of SUV's that will annihilate a 3.0i and your 4.4i without trying.

FYI...my previous 4.6iS had the Dinan S2 system...my current 4.6iS is well-tuned as well. I have enough faith in my X to not pretend it's something it isn't just because of an "emblem". ///M is far more than just an exhaust growl.

IMO, the only E53 deserving of an ///M emblem is the E53 LeMans V12...another may be member JMH's personalized 4.6iS or those with supercharged 4.6iS'. There are several on this board with superchargers.

As i said...if you're in love with it, that's all that matters. However, besides the fact that your X is labeled something that it's FAR from being, you will invite battles that you're most likely to lose.

I actually disagree. Performance has nothing to do with incorrectly representing a car.

I'm sure there are plenty of E53's out there that have enough work done to out perform a real x5 M- I see the problem being that no matter how fast or modified the car is, it will never actually be an M. Just call it a fast E53...I guess what I mean, is that no car deserves and M badge if its not an M from the factory.

Take it easy chilliwilli didnt mean to ruffle your feathers!!! I know that there are some nasty Bimmers out there I pick and choose my battles carefully. Anyway my ///M badge is to realy insight some curiosity among those that dont know X5's. My bimmer looks good and sounds Grrreeat and it always spark a discussion. and I never admit its not a M I always say I bought it like that, leave them wondering - hahahah

No feathers ruffled here...just responding to your question. Before you edited your previous post, i believe you asked why or how some feel about badging non M's with an ///M badge? Again, if you like it...

I recommend Car & Driver January 2010 issue - Page 88 - comparison of super SUV's.
