When does it happen? Low speeds/high speeds? While turning/going over a bump?

It only happens on the low speeds when I go over small road bumps/cracks. Big bumps and puddles are fine.

On the hight speeds car leans to the right, but I am sure alignment can fix that.

Go in to get an alignment check. My X5 had a similiar problem that occured a few months after I collided with a hill at about 30 mph. It did no structural damage to the car but bent the front wheel a bit. I replaced the lower control arm and all seemed well. The noise appeared and a steering bracket had worn out on that side along with the lower control arm from the other side. All was noticed on an alignment inspection. Good luck.

Agree with Hoopie- it's probably a control arm but your sway bar link could be worn too.

Had same problem, loose/broken sway bar endlinks. Could also be control arm bushings...both problems are common.

EDIT: JV's right on.

I had the sway arm replaced the other day. Same kind of noise (clunk noise). The part was $44 at BMW. Car now rides like new.

The part I am talking about is # 7 in the diagram. Easy to replace (mine was done by the mechanic while I was getting new brake rotors). Just identify if it is the left or rifght side.

Good luck.
