Arrow Warranty Extension

Greetings to everyone at X5World. I have a X5 02 that it run out of warranty in August 2006. I'm trying to find out for the best deal to extend this warranty beyond 4/48 to 6/100. Your feedback will be greatly appreaciated.

Thank you...

If you are the original owner and the vehicle still has under 50K on it, BMW will offer you a version of the CPO warranty for another 2years/50K for around $2,000.

Other then that you are stuck with the WORTHLESS aftermarket warranties...where..IMO..you are better off just putting money in the bank.

Do a search on CPO warranty info as I have posted the entire flyer before.

The cost is more than $2000 but is competitive with what aftermarket warranty companies charge but you are getting a warranty from BMW instead of an anonymous company that might go teets up. I got the BMW warranty and am in the process of making my first claim. They've had to replace my a/c condenser which wouldn't be cheap out of my own pocket.

yes...always worth it if you can get it from bmw first, however my service advisor told me its the same aftermarket warranties they sell you at a retail price. those companies have their way with words if u call on your own. i would try to find a site that rates aftermarket warranties....and if u do MAKE SURE THEY GIVE YOU THE ACTUAL CASH VALUE FOR THE WARRANTY OF THE CAR. meaning, anything front to back that goes wrong its covered once it doesnt exceed the actual value of the car (like a total loss)....NOTa named parts warranty that only covers a few things that they mention on a list...like a transmission, but no torque converter or only if u break down on the brooklyn bridge u will be covered...etc. but...i think those are loser companies in my opinion, and would do anything they can to not pay up for something if something were to go wrong and jerk u around...thats just my opinion...
also...i would take their financing alternative instead of paying it out all at once. can build credit, as well as not give them a lump sum...that way if they try to rip u off during a claim, you wont be that ripped off. b.t.w DO N0T GET CONTINENTAL WARRANTY, OR BUYERS CHOICE....SCHEME ARTISTS....and i have had very bad experiences with them...ask your service advisor which would be a good company that they work with.

Your service advisor is misinforming you. The BMW Original Owner Protection Program is NOT the same as any other aftermarket warranty. Some dealers do sell aftermarket warranties though. The BMW one differs in many important ways including using only OEM BMW parts. I know someone with an aftermarket warranty on his E39 528Ti and they wanted the BMW dealer to use generic parts. Also, the BMW warranty includes extended BMW Roadside Assistance. The BMW warranty also allows your dealer to make decisions about what needs to be performed rather than like aftermarket companies that require permission from them before procedures are performed. Perhaps most importantly, BMW offers and back their warranty whereas the aftermarket ones are from businesses that could go out of business at any time, which has happened to a company that members of this forum bought from. I don't think BMW is going bankrupt anytime soon.

There are always limitations to extended warranties, even BMW's does not cover everything bumper to bumper but it does cover quite comprehensively. I just got my X5 back today after another window regulator was replaced (my 5th), a faulty PDC sensor was replaced, and a bad a/c compressor was replaced. The total cost for the necessary parts for these fixes totals just over $1425. That is not including labor. Plus, my dealer gives me a free loaner car that I had for over a week while these repairs were made, saving me $$$ for a rental car. The cost to me: $50 deductible. Just in parts alone what I paid for the BMW warranty has been half recovered. Needless to say, I highly recommend the BMW warranty.

By the way, my X5 is an '02 with just under 56K miles.

My dealer sold me tire and wheel waranty for $500 last summer whem I got my car. I had a freak accident, same two tires wall damaged in 6 weeks interval. Well, first one they paid no question asked. However, on the second one, they just decided to screw me around not a dime even without reviewing the case. You have to watch out who you are insured with. Not evey ins. they sell is BMW's.

Im still looking for that warranty...looks like from all the research Im leaning towards the BMW backed warranty/maintenance product.

I will post on the Dealers section and try to get one direct with the discount for site member's. Wish me luck!!!

Try BMW of Macon in Georgia. Ask for Kevin who is in parts but he can probably direct you to the right person. They had been offering a discount for the BMW warranty to X5world members.

I did not get mine through them because the deal was arranged after I got mine. I did get a deal through some other contacts.
