Quick question about lost pixels

Like I said. I tried the number for Lenora Vlaovich and her email. The number had no answer and the email was returned undeliverable.

Now. If anyone has current contact information it would be helpful. I have an email into BMW NA inquiring about the repair. I will post whatever information I receive.

I had my x5 in today at the dealers with pixel problems, hoping to get it replaced fairly cheaply, but to my amazment they quoted me £480 and that was with the" good will discount". looks like i will be taking the cluster out and giving the contacts a clean.

I need to do this as well but my question is does it create any rattles after you crack open the instrument cluster? Has anyone had a problem with this? There is nothing more annoying than a rattle in the dash.

i think most of us bought rings from barvarian motor werks off of ebay. they are slightly (ever so slightly) larger than the circle you snap it onto. they fit very snug and there will be no rattle. the cluster itself is ony separated into two parts. there is nothing that should make your cluster rattle after installation.

Thanks for the quick reply! Should I take the aftermarket rings to the stealer or is that going to have to be my gig?

I doubt the dealership will install it for you. It's a very simple install. Long story short:

remove two screws to take out cluster...remove three connectors
turn five 'knobs'
open and push the rings in.

Well I went on the BMW USA website and sent them an email. They responded asking for all of my pertinent X5 info. They are supposed to be contacting me. I will let you guys know what the outcome is.
